If mew of a diamond is 2.4 and speed of light in air is 3 x 10^8m/s.Find the speed of light in the diamond @ganeshie8

@iGreen.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Speed of light is fastest in vacuum, which is very similar to the speed in air. Anything else will \(slow\) the velocity down by a factor equal to the refractive index. So \(c=3\times10^8 m/s\) and \(\mu=2.4\) so velocity of light in diamond = ?

OpenStudy (aaronandyson):

1.24 x 10^8

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Correct if you used \(\mu=2.42\), otherwise 1.25\(\times10^8\) m/s
