Which of the following is not true of a covalent compound? It is made of only nonmetals. It has a very high melting point. It is formed when atoms share electrons in a chemical bond. It can also be called a molecule. 2. What type of compound is almost always found as a solid? Metallic Covalent Nuclear Ionic 3. Which of the following is not a characteristic of an ionic compound? It has a high melting point. It is made of a metal and a nonmetal. It is a solid. It is formed when atoms share electrons. 4. Covalent compounds are formed when a metal bonds with a noble gas. a metal bonds with a nonmetal. a metal bonds with a metal. a nonmetal bonds with a nonmetal. 5. What is the relationship between a compound and the elements it is made from? The compound takes on the properties of the stronger element. The compound takes on a mixture of properties from the elements. The compound may have the properties of the most abundant element in the compound. The compound may have properties that are very different from those of the elements. 6. When a metal bonds with a nonmetal, they form a(n) element. ionic compound. molecule. covalent compound. 7. My answers are: 1.C 2.D 3.D 4.D 5.D 6.D 7.C 8.C 9.A 10.C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your answers are wrong in questions 1, 2, 6, 8, and 9.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh really? Thanks for helping! What do you think they are?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I thought they are all right so I have no idea what the answers are then

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You may need to study this more if you only can get 5 out of 10 correct.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well I missed the lesson on this

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Mlink1290 qn the answer is 1 and 2.. i did reply to the post.. didnt read the qn properly

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1st qn

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay so everything is right except 1 and 2?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1st qn its a and b, and about the melting point.. its normally lower than ionic compounds..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no 6 is wrong..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. is A? 2. is B?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6 its ionic.. covalent can be formed by group 4 elements as well 6 a)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

8 its D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.A 2.B 6.A Is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

9 its B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so u got everything?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

question 1 is b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so 1.B 2.B 6.A 9.B

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is that right?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

il just put the updated list.. 1.B 2.B 3.D 4.D 5.D 6.A 7.C 8.D 9.B 10.C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but qn 2 i still have doubt.. ionic compounds have higher melting point than covalent.. so its usually ionic compounds that are solids

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got 80% thanks!
