inorganic stoichiometry question (link attached below) ~~ I got the amount of moles Can the equation [Mg(x)Cu(1-x)]2 (CO3)(OH)2 be split into [Mg(x)Cu(1-x)](CO3) and can I use this as the starting material that reacts with the sulphuric acid?

How does \(\sf Mg_xCu_{(x-1)}\) make sense? The only possibilities are x=0 and x=1, anything other than that gives you negative values for Cu.

As for the gas evolution, it would be carbonate component reacting giving off \(CO_{2~(g)}\). Not sure how you can find the composition of metal from there.
