Asked by my friend. There are two people plan to watch a movie and they decided arrive around 7-8 pm. the first guy arrive will wait 10 mins at the entrance when he arrive. If his partner doesn't come, he will walk inside the cinema and continue to wait. What is the probability of the two guy meet at the entrance?

ganeshie8 (ganeshie8):

1/6 ?

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

How did you get that?

Thomas, he got 1/6 because the second person has 1 hour total, which is 60 minutes, but only 10 mins to meet at the entrance after 7pm. So he has 10/60 minutes to meet up at the entrance. Which is 1/6

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

What if the first guy arrives at 7:51? Does that cause any problems? @Fzxt @ganeshie8

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

Does this probability tree makes sense?

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

Suppose that I roll two fair dice and calculate their differences. How do I construct the probability distribution of the differences of the dices?

OpenStudy (thomas5267):

The arrival time of one person follows a uniform distribution from 0 to 60 minutes.

This looks helpful but I cannot understand it. http://www.math.wm.edu/~leemis/chart/UDR/PDFs/StandarduniformStandardtriangular.pdf
