I'm learning about functional groups. The Amino groups function as a base because they are proton acceptors and carboxyl groups function as an acid because they are proton donors. How would a methyl (CH3) group function? Thanks for the help.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

It doesnt have an acid/base function under normal circumstances - that is, it's not really reactive. |dw:1424368685375:dw| Under special circumstances, it can function as an acid. For example, when placed near a ketone.|dw:1424368619486:dw|
