OpenStudy (darkigloo):

Can someone tell me if I'm doing this wrong? Formula Of a Hydrate....

OpenStudy (darkigloo):

@abb0t @nincompoop

OpenStudy (somy):

first - yes correct second one hmm the formula is \[\sf \frac{ mass~of~solute }{ mass~of~solution } \times 100\] your mass of solute would be mass of anhydrous salt and mass of solution would be mass of hydrated salt (which is mixture of water and anhydrous salt)

OpenStudy (somy):

wait a sec

OpenStudy (somy):

yep you are correct in second one too :3 good job!!

OpenStudy (somy):

i didnt notice the 'of water' part hehe :P

OpenStudy (darkigloo):

oh ok thanks :) so how would i find the mole ratio of anhydrous salt to water?

OpenStudy (darkigloo):

I did 0.053 mol H2O/0.0033 = 16 0.0033 mol CuSO4 / 0.0033 =1 but i dont think thats right

OpenStudy (somy):

it seems to be correct to me if the q is saying 'mole ratio OF water TO anhydrous salt' would be water/anhydrous salt

OpenStudy (somy):

your salt is CuSO4?

OpenStudy (darkigloo):

hmm ok can i ask you one more question? :D

OpenStudy (somy):

sure :)

OpenStudy (darkigloo):

never mind, i figured it out :) thanks @Somy

OpenStudy (somy):

no problem :))
