is this how methylbutane would like?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

|dw:1424388225973:dw| since it cant be on the first atom and last (becuase it would become pentane) so would you put it on the lowes possible number then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh wait my example has 2-methylbethane.....sorry cant help

OpenStudy (abb0t):

2-methylbutane is correct. Also isopentane is acceptable

OpenStudy (abb0t):

according to IUPAC rules, you should include the position of the methyl group.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but the question was strictly methylbutane, no 2- , so im still correct right? @abb0t
