How much water is needed to dilute a solution? na2co3+2hcl to 2 nacl +h2o + co2 Dilution for hydrochloric acid: c1v1=c2v2 2.0M x 20ml = 1.8M x v2 v2=22ml Does this mean 2ml of water needs to be added to 20 ml of hydrochloric acid in order to have a final concentration of 1.8M and final volume of 22ml?

OpenStudy (somy):

i never used this formula coz it made everything confusing to me instead i used to do it mathematically 2.0 M - 20 mL 1.8 M - X X= 18 mL this means that to dilute 2.0 M of HCl that was given to u in 20mLs u can take 18mL of this 2.0M HCl and add 2mL (to make up to 20mL) of WATER this will dilute it to 1.8 M so your final solution will be diluted HCl
