Is their more to the question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a) 1.5 m/s b) 2.6 m/s c) 4.9 m/s d) 5.5 m/s e) 6.0 m/s

M/s so i pluged in 30 divded by 0.5 and its 6.0

OpenStudy (matt101):

You need to deconstruct the velocity into it's horizontal and vertical components. You need trigonometry to do this. For a projectile, the horizontal velocity will be the same for the entire flight. Have a look at this picture: |dw:1425616132216:dw| We want to find x, the horizontal component of the velocity. You can see this is a right angle triangle, so you can find x using this: \[\cos 30=\frac{x}{3}\] Solving for x, you should get 2.6 m/s. That makes B your answer! If you have any questions let me know.

ah, thank you matt, I was solving it using sin instead of cos.
