write the equation -2x+6y=7 in polar form
These relationships may be helpful: x = rcosθ y = rsinθ x² + y² = r²
Check out the options. @wolf1728 More formula needed!
-2x+6y=7 -2* r cos θ + 6* r sin θ = 7
-2x+6y=7 First, solve for y y = 1/3 x + 7/6 hmm seems as if cutegirl has left the topic
sin theta = y/r then y = r * sin (theta) cos theta = x/r then x = r * cos theta
Right.
y = 1/3 x + 7/6 r * sin theta = (1/3) * r * cos (theta) + 7/6 r * sin theta -(1/3) * r * cos (theta) = 7/6 r * (sin (theta) -(1/3) * cos (theta) ) =7/6 r = 7 / 6*[(sin (theta) -(1/3) * cos (theta) )]
In the posted options, where do you think that the numerical values of the angles are coming from? @wolf1728
Gee, I thought I had the answer and forgot there were some multiple choice answers available.
im here guys
I have converted rectangular equations to polar ones and the reverse but never got numerical answers as angles.
@cutegirl Is there a sample type of one of these problem worked out in your text? If so, would you post it?
does this help
It might. I may have to work on that tomorrow (later today). Let me see if a "Big Brain" is here now.
