How does a covalent bond differ from an ionic bond?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A. A covalent bond is formed when one atom gives up one or more protons to another atom. An ionic bond is formed when two atoms share one or more protons. B. A covalent bond is formed when two atoms share one or more protons. An ionic bond is formed when one atom gives up one or more protons to another atom. C. A covalent bond is formed when one atom gives up one or more electrons to another atom. An ionic bond is formed when two atoms share one or more electrons. D. A covalent bond is formed when two atoms share one or more electrons. An ionic bond is formed when one atom gives up one or more electrons to another atom.

OpenStudy (micahm):

These two opposite ions attract each other and form the ionic bond. Covalent bonding is a form of chemical bonding between two non metallic atoms which is characterized by the sharing of pairs of electrons between atoms and other covalent bonds.

so d?

@micahm

OpenStudy (micahm):

if that's what you gather from the post then yes if not then no

OpenStudy (anonymous):

covalent means two atoms are attached through shared electrons ionic means they are attached beacuse the atoms or molecules are polarized and are attracted to eachother like two magnets.
