Help please? Need second opinion!

OpenStudy (amorfide):

post question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@alyssa_xo

OpenStudy (amorfide):

what answers have you got

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it's not graphing lol, that's just a screenshot I overrided

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1: 7x+4 2: -3x+4 3: 240

OpenStudy (anonymous):

he medaled me...... Does that mean They're right?

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

I think it means he doesn't know

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

on the plus side, I know, but I was the first opinion so I have no say here

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol but you can stick around to see if you were righhhttt

OpenStudy (amorfide):

I medalled because I agree

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok. I had a bad feeling. I'm ridding on this test so If I fail >.> badddd things happen.. like... a bad grade...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

riding* Thank you! If anyone else agrees just let me know, or if you disagree MUCH APPRECIATED!!!

OpenStudy (amorfide):

actually i don't know about (f.g)(4)

OpenStudy (amorfide):

@e.mccormick

OpenStudy (anonymous):

that's mainly the one I'm not sure about either

OpenStudy (amorfide):

@Nnesha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Pretty sure #3 is 164

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

show your work pls

Nnesha (nnesha):

^

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Nnesha you agree with dagrothus?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

(f*g)(4) is f compose of g so put the function g into f, f*g = 10x^2+4 (f*g)(4) = 10*(4^2) + 4= 10*16+4 = 160+4+164

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

is that f compose? I thought it was f times g

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

the compose looks like an o

OpenStudy (anonymous):

it is.

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

oh, my answer was wrong, yeah

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't understand how you did it through dagro

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah compose should look like an "o", so i'm not entirely sure if that's supposed to be f compose of g or f times g

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I replaced the x in the f(x) equation with the function g(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its just f*g because when I did similar problems I answered it like that. I know it isn't like that by that much.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

This is from aleks

Nnesha (nnesha):

its ( f times g) not (f o g)

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

this notation sucks lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh I see why he thought it was f o g. No i know how to do those, I know what you mean.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ yeah lol

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

why is compose even a thing? just write f(g(x))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm surprised I even remember that notation haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i didn't learn it as f o g. I learned it as f(g(x)) like you said

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you agree it is 240?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we said it was 240 right? alyssa

Nnesha (nnesha):

for ( fog) first you have to substitute 4 into g(x) and then g(x) value into f(x)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes it's 240

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thank you. basically fog is the substitution method

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you're looking for x and y

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Nnesha yeah you can do the substitution either way since multiplication is communative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

commutative*

Nnesha (nnesha):

yep sub but i'm saying (f times g) is diff thn (fog)..

Nnesha (nnesha):

substitution =sub

OpenStudy (alyssa_xo):

yeah, we already agreed on that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yeah you're right, the original question was supposed to be f times g

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you guys. Im gonna close the question
