When using primary and subsidiary reactions with acid-base equilibria...after you've found the concentrations using the primary reaction, do you use any subsidiary reaction to find the concentrations of say OH- or do you always use Kw=[H3O+][OH-]? D=

OpenStudy (thadyoung):

What?

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you mean like when using a di- or triprotic acid?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Mm, yeah ;o

OpenStudy (aaronq):

you would find the contribution of \(H_3O^+\) or \(OH^-\) from each dissociation (using the appropriate \(K_A\)) and add them up.
