PLEASE HELPP!!!!!!!!! MEDAL AND FAN When a potassium atom forms an ion, it loses one electron. What is the electrical charge of the potassium ion? A. -1 B. +1 C. -2 D. +2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you think?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

@RasheedahOwl Would you like me to explain?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes please!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your welcome XD

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

A neutral atom will have the same amount of protons and electrons. Protons have positive charge, and electrons have negative charge. If a neutral atom loses an electron to become an ion, it now has one more proton than electron, meaning a net charge of +1. Does that make sense?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thank-You so much! I have better understanding, so the next question i don't have to go on Open Study. @StudyGurl14
