A mixture of He, N2, and Ar has a pressure of 22.1 atm at 28.0 °C. If the partial pressure of He is 1555 torr and that of Ar is 2731 mm Hg, what is the partial pressure of N2?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

each gas in the mixture makes its own partial pressure, and the 3 partial pressures \(must\) add up to the total pressure. First you have to convert the pressures so that all 4 (the three gases + the total pressure) are in the same unit

im still so confused. but thanks for trying to help. @JFraser

OpenStudy (jfraser):

torr, mmHg, and atm, are all three different ways of measuring pressure. You need to convert them all into the same unit so you can compare them appropriately. Use conversion fractions 1atm = 760mmHg
