How does a covalent bond differ from an ionic bond? One atom loses electrons. One atom gains electrons. Electrons are shared in a covalent bond, Electrons are destroyed in a covalent bond.

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

Ionic bonds result when electrons are tranfered between atoms. Covalent bonds result when valence electrons are shared between atoms. From this, what can you infer?

OpenStudy (alphadxg):

For the sake of time, I will go ahead and give you the answer because I have to leave. Based on what I stated above, The answer will be that Covalent bonds share the electrons rather than ionic bonds. Thank you have a nice day.
