Please describe why melting ice with salt freezes cream. Describe how you could change the setup to freeze the cream faster, to produce colder temperatures or to cool other substances

Adding the salt increases the amount of heat the ice can absorb without melting. In fact, any liquid water from this mixure will still be colder than 32 F (0 C).
