OpenStudy (lsdxmdmaddicthc):

Can someone explain this to me, I'm lost. Question 1: (2 parts) Write the balanced equation for the reaction of acetic acid and sodium bicarbonate. CH3COOH + NaHCO3 → (1 pt.) What types of reaction took place? There are 2 answers needed here. Your choices are combustion, synthesis, decomposition, single-replacement, and double-replacement.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

There will be single displacement and double displacement, because the sodium will replace hydrogen from the acid an this hydrogen will bind with the other one from the bicarbonate. The so formed H2 will remove one oxygen from the CO3. The reaction will be CH3COOH + NaHCO3 - CH3COONa + H2O + CO2
