A 4.64M solution of HCl is created when water is added to 450 mL of a 0.675 M HCl stock solution. What volume of water was added during dilution

OpenStudy (matlee):

@dtan5457

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

another m1v1=m2v2 question 4.64(v1)=(450)(0.675) solve for v2

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

*v1

OpenStudy (matlee):

How do you know which side to put the liters on?

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

because it's m1v1=m2v2 each side must have one volume (liters), and one molarity

OpenStudy (matlee):

No i mean last time you put the milliter on the left side

OpenStudy (matlee):

haha never mind i got it

OpenStudy (matlee):

Thanks again!

OpenStudy (matlee):

@dtan5457 sorry i just want to make sure i got the right answer the answer i got was

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

I don't think it matters, as the missing volume will have the same units

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

when solving for molarity directly, then yeah, it must be liters.

OpenStudy (dtan5457):

Did you get the answer to this question? @matlee

OpenStudy (matlee):

Yes thank you i have one more please
