specific heat capacity question
copper (0.385) platinum (1.33) and aluminum (0.897) has initial temp of 20 degrees. each supplied with same amt of heat at same rate, which will reach 300 degrees first? so i said copper because it had the lowest specific heat capacity..... unless my book is wrong it said platinum but then it goes on saying that the one with the lowest specific heat capacity is the correct one..... very contradictory dont know if they did a typo or whatever but i believe that it is copper becuase it has the lowest c
@Hoslos what do you think?
All with the same mass?
doesnt say.... but i guess we assume it is?
Then I agree with you, and not the book. The lower the specific heat, the easier it is to raise the temperature.
ok thank you! i needed another person to agree with me too just to be sure haha
Yeah, I hate it when the book is wrong, and then you become beyond confused. My regents baron's book has plenty of wrong answers :P
I know lol so frustrating when that happens
Specific heat capacity is the amount of heat required to raise the temperature of 1 kg mass by 1degree Celsius, hence the lower the heat capacity, the easier or the faster the temperature of the mass increases.
