Help me with a few questions? :) Solve for x and y. Round to the nearest tenth. Show all your steps.
I'll help :)
Cool! I have an example of a problem like this but not quite the same so I'm a little confused :/
Ok, what's the example like? i could use that one to show u how to do the same thing on a slightly different problem
1 sec :)
ok
Then i can show u how to use examples u learned to help u
This is the one the teacher helped us do and we figured out that x=8 on it.
ok
Hold on, i want to see what @Hoslos has to say first before i explain, they might have something helpful :)
|dw:1428951968236:dw| Use cosine rule to find angle beta: \[\cos \beta=\frac{ adjacent }{ hypothenuse }=\frac{ 5 }{ 13 }\] and \[\beta=\cos ^{-1}(5/13)=67.4Degrees\] Secondly, we find the angle aside from this, which is 90-67.4=22.6degrees. Similarly the last angle ( the one at the peak of x and y) is 180-(90+22.6)=67.4degrees. Finally, use sine rule to find either x or y. I will try with one, first. \[\frac{ \sin22.6 }{ y }=\frac{ \sin67.4 }{ 5 }\] Find y.
