********MEDAL FOR CHEMISTRY HELP******** CaCl2 is dissolved in water. Which of the following is NOT one of the 3 steps involved in this solvation process. Select one: a. Solvent-solvent interactions overcome ( hydrogen bonds between water molecules break) b. Solute-solute interactions overcome (Ca+2 and Cl- ions separate) c. CaCl2 molecules absorb the water becoming larger molecules. d. Ca+2 ions surrounded by negative sides of water molecules and Cl- ions are surrounded by positive sides of water molecules

u still need help?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@conner143 Yes!

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Well, if water is dissolving the calcium chloride, that means they are basically breaking off, right? You are going from solid calcium chloride to a solution of aqueous calcium chloride.

c is wrong

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@abb0t I think I understand... In that case would the answer be B.)?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Rathindra @conner143 @abb0t @dtan5457 Please guys, I'm getting a bit desperate. I'm really struggling w/ chem but I need to pass in order to receive a German scholarship. 0///0

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Wrong, it is \(\sf \color{red}{NOT}\) B.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH!!! It would have to be C. then because C. is NOT a part of the 3 step solvation process. Correct?

@abb0t

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes.
