what is the enthalpy change of reaction when ethene reacts with benzene and produces phenylethene?
@Hoslos
We can do it as standard enthalpy change of formation, which is the energy absorbed to by the reactants to form 1 mole of the product.

ok so thats what i thought my data booklet didnt give me a standard molar enthalpy of formation for phenyl benzene.....
so how am i suppposed to get it? thats all the info it gave me
phenyl ethene*
So it is data booklet? Find the total number of bond energies for C=C (benzene) , for C-H bonds , C=C bonds. Then use the formula: Total bond energy of products - total bond energy of reactants.
You can find this data online.
Their standard values (which is generally at 25 degree C at 1 bar pressure).
