Why do people mix acids and bases?
Now when you mix acids and bases (or even acids and water) the same thing happens. Heat is released by the chemical reaction. Sometimes the heat is enough to promote a vigorous reaction. In this case the heat may not be able to escape quickly so heats up the reactants perhaps to form a gas before the reaction is over. Since there is some acid still about there is a danger that drops of this will be expelled (spat about) by the gas trying to expand.

the reactants disassociate completely, and swap completely, making new products
In general we perform the mix between acids and bases, in ordert o get a salt, by a reaction which is called "double change reaction". Here is an example of that reaction: \[\Large {{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{4}}}{\text{ + 2KOH}} \rightleftharpoons {{\text{K}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{S}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{4}}}{\text{ + 2}}{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}{\text{O}}\]
oops..in order to get...
when acid is added in base acid gets neutralized .that is why it is also known as neutralization reaction and we get salt and water as a result
