OpenStudy (veeveeniko):

An unknown mixture contains 3.6g of NaCl and 1.4g of SiO2. What is the % composition of this mixture?

OpenStudy (veeveeniko):

@abb0t could you help me?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

To get % composition we simply divide the quantity of one component by the total value for the mixture. Can you do that?

OpenStudy (veeveeniko):

I'm not sure

OpenStudy (veeveeniko):

Divide 1.4 from 5g?

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes.

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Assuming you have 100%, if you know the percent of one, you know the percent of the other. For instance, if you have \(\sf \frac{1.4}{5.0}\) = 0.28 x 100 = 28% That means that the remaining must be SiO\(_2\). aND THERE YOU GO.

OpenStudy (veeveeniko):

Oh thank you so much.
