I think when molecules have less temperature, they will relax a bit more, and stop moving around so much. For example, water(liquid) moves around quite a bit, but as it gets cooler and becomes ice, it doesnt move. But the molecules are bound together in the system, there is probably still vibrational energy, and slight movement back and forth within the structure. Once it gets hotter again, those bonds break apart and the molecules start moving around more and more, and it completely becomes liquid again.
