OpenStudy (brittanydosey):

Your primary job’s gross income is $3,568.73/month. Deductions are FICA (7.65%), federal tax withholding (11.5%), and state tax withholding (7.8%). How much are your fixed expenses if they are 36% of your realized income?

OpenStudy (brittanydosey):

First, find your Realized Income by multiplying your gross income 1 minus each of the deductions. Then take this answer and multiply it by the percentage for the Fixed Expenses. This is your answer.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Since you have a proposed strategy, I would like to see you work it out and will be glad to check your answer.

OpenStudy (brittanydosey):

im thinking we should take $3,568.73 and subtract the percentages and stuff then get the answer

OpenStudy (mathmate):

Good! Then what is your question?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathmate question...??? lol do you mean answer??

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@tylermcmullen23 Yes and no. I see hesitation in getting the answer using the proposed strategy, so there might be a doubt somewhere.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@tylermcmullen23 Answers are not important to me in any case. It's whether the person understands how to solve the problem correctly. The computer asking the question is responsible for checking the answer.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ahh i see

OpenStudy (brittanydosey):

208.08 i got as my answer

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@tylermcmullen23 Do you have time to help @brittanydosey finish the problem, I have to go.

OpenStudy (mathmate):

@tylermcmullen23 thkx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok @brittanydosey

OpenStudy (anonymous):

since you are given the percentages to deduct from the gross income, did you multiply each percent by the gross income to find out how much to subtract from it?

OpenStudy (brittanydosey):
