The spin cycle on a washing machine slows from 900 to 300 rev/min in 4 sec. - Determine the angular acceleration during the slowing down. When the cycle operates at 900 rev/min the output power is 4 kW. - What is the Torque developed? - If the radius of the tub is 30 cm, what is the linear speed near the inside border ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Clue Angular acceleration is the rate of change of angular velocity \[\alpha = \frac{\Delta \omega}{\Delta t}\] But angular velocity has to be in S.I. units, so you have to convert revs/min to rads/ sec Power and torque are connected as \[P = \tau \omega\] Finally angular speed and linear speed are connected as \[v = r \omega\]
