is aqueous H+ ions acidic?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

an acid accepts electrons a base donates electrons

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

does this help answer your question?

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

H+ has no electrons

OpenStudy (australopithecus):

and a somewhat strong affinity for electrons

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so its not an acid basically....

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

All acidic aqueous solutions contain H+ ions

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but if water contains only H+ is it acidic then?

OpenStudy (exoticinspirit):

Water reacts with water. So there is always H3O+ (aq) ions and also OH-1(aq) ions in a solution of water. If it is acidic this indicates more H3O+ ions than OH- ions. This is always true because you can't have a solution without water. (aqueous)
