OpenStudy (beaubrun):

Acid & Base Questions? 1. How many moles of aluminum hydroxide are needed to neutralize 0.40 mol of HCl? 2. How many mL of 0.65M HNO3 are needed to neutralize 52 mL of 0.90M Ca(OH)2?

OpenStudy (matt101):

For the first question: Write out the balanced chemical reaction. This will allow you to determine the ratio of aluminum hydroxide and HCl that react, meaning you will be able to find the moles you are asked for. For the second question: Write out the balanced chemical reaction. Then, find the moles of Ca(OH)2 present by using the volume and concentration provided. Using the moles and the balanced chemical reaction, you can find out how many moles of HNO3 reacted. Using this mole value and the concentration of HNO3 provided, you can finally figure out the volume of HNO3 required!
