Can someone guide me through finding the surface area for this please? A bit confused http://prntscr.com/74kcwv
ok
hmmmmmmm
lateral or total?
notice, the picture here the prism is just 3 rectangles and 2 triangles, stacked up to each other at the edges thus, get the area of all 5 shapes, sum them up and that'd be the area of the prism
Well, I know you need to find the lateral area, then insert it into: S.A. = L.A. + 2B But I'm confused on finding both of those, cx
and to find the area of the two triangles you can use pythagroean theorum to find the third side, then do what @jdoe0001 said or Find the perimeter of the triangle and multiply by height to get lateral aurface area then add the area of the two bases
Oh, I didn't think of that, Pythagoream Theorem cx
So it would be a legnth of 3in?
correct
then (base x height)/2 for area
So... A = 1/2 b * h A = 1/2 4 * 3 A = 2 * 3 A = 6 6*2 = 12 ^ For both triangles Right?
How do we find the L.A.?
yes now to find LA you would find the perimeter of the triangle then multiply by the height of the prism
it is technically adding up the area of all the faces represented differently
Soo... 12 * 8 = L.A.? 96 + 2(6) 96+12=108 S.A. = 108in^2?
yes that is correct :)
