What is a dilution?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Dilution is when you reduce the concentration of a solution. Think about this equation: M=n/L Where m is concentration n is number of moles L is volume in liters Notice that the moles and volume are inversely proportional. So one 1 mol of sugar in 1 liter of tea has a molarity of 1, whereas 1 mol of sugar in 2 liters of tea has a molarity of 0.5. So you dilute something by adding higher volume of solvent to a solution
