Need help!! For each of the following displacement vectors, determine the vector that has the same magnitude but the opposite direction: (2.1) T/I (a) delta d=17 m [W 63° S]

What we want here is a vector with the opposite direction, so we only need to worry about the angle. The magnitude of the new vector will be the same, 17 m. So what is W 63° S? It means you're going west, but shifted 63° south, so that you're traveling in roughly a southwest direction: |dw:1431973064846:dw|

We want to be going in exactly the opposite direction...so just extend that diagonal line into the diagonally opposite quadrant: |dw:1431973198803:dw| By simple geometry, that new angle that's formed (see above) is also 63°. However, this time you're travelling east to begin with and shifted 63° north. In other words, the direction of your new vector is E 63° N.
