OpenStudy (lizz123):

How do I find the function of http://prntscr.com/7746dx . And of course Medal will be given.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

there is no one function for this .... you simply create a function that hits those points.

OpenStudy (lizz123):

So, the questions says: for Items 10, write each relation as a set of ordered pairs

OpenStudy (lizz123):

I got the ordered pairs as [-15,3] [2,11] [-3, -7] [12,4]

OpenStudy (amistre64):

yes, those are ordered pairs, generally written as (x,y) and not [x,y] but defer to your course materials for that instead of my old memory

OpenStudy (lizz123):

I know it that the parenthesis signs don't work but I use the brakets as parenthesis/

OpenStudy (amistre64):

fair enough :)

OpenStudy (amistre64):

now, how do we define a function that we know will hit those values?

OpenStudy (lizz123):

yup so that is what I need help with; defining the function.

OpenStudy (amistre64):

well logically, if we could define terms that zero out for everything but what we want them to be, life would be grand. for example, lets say we have the points (1,2) and (4,5) when x=1, we want all the other terms to be 0 except for one of them y = a x/1 + b(x-1) + c(x-1) now when x=1, all terms but a got to zero 2 = a 1/1 + b(1-1) + c(1-1) what does a equate to?

OpenStudy (lizz123):

I am so confused

OpenStudy (amistre64):

i wrote everything out ... as simply as i could

OpenStudy (amistre64):

what part doesnt make sense? if its all of it then im not the one that will be able to help you out.

OpenStudy (lizz123):

The part where you wrote, ''now when x=1, all terms but a got to zero"

OpenStudy (lizz123):

So lets say I did the points [2,11] and [12,4]. Y= a x/1 + b[x-1]+ c[x-1] y equals 2 or 12. [I known its up to me to choose] So, 2= a 11/1 + b[11-1] + c[11-1]

OpenStudy (lizz123):

What do I do after? @amistre64

OpenStudy (lizz123):

@StudyGurl14

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Sorry, I don't know. It looks like @amistre64 was helping you.

OpenStudy (lizz123):

Yeah she was, but I am so confused and thought you would have known.

OpenStudy (lizz123):

Can I use this formula? \[\frac{ x ^{2}-x ^{1} }{ y ^{2}-y^{1} }\]
