then you'll have a quadratic to solve

the x^2 will cancel so you'll only have a linear

okay so when i eliminate y i get (x-1)^2=9 and (x-2)^2=4

you get (x - 1)^2 - (x - 2)^2 = 5

x^2 - 2x + 1 - (x^2 - 4x + 4) = 5

after you have (x-1)^2-(x-2)^2=5 what do you do? cause i expanded them and was simplifying

yes expand - but watch the signs

put the second expansion in parentheses - then you are less likely to make mistakes

a negative outside the parentheses is like a -1 - you need to multiply contents of the bracket by -1

do the expansion first then distribute the negative

= x^2 - 2x + 1 - x^2 + 4x - 4
