what is the ph of a 0.010 HCI solution

OpenStudy (nechirwan):

pH = -log[H+] Hydrochloric acid (HCl) completely dissociates in water since it's a strong acid. Therefore, each mole of HCl that you add contributes one H+ ion to the solution. That means a 0.010 M HCl solution has 0.010 M H+. Substituting that concentration into the above equation gives you: pH = -log (0.010) = -(-2) = 2
