An apple pie is cut into 6 slices. Each slice is sold for $2. The radius of the pie is 3.5 inches. The central angle of the remaining pie is 240 degree angle. How much does the remaining pie cost? A. $2 B. $4 C. $6 D. $8 E. $10 Please help!
So since I'm trying to get a better score with engagement I'm going to walk you threw this step by step: The first thing we need to do is figure out the original circumference of the pie. Do you know how to do that?
The diameter x pi?
Okay screw it your not even in the room, 3.5 inches is the original radius, so now we are going to take that and 3.5^2 and that will give you the circumference I believe.
diameter is the radius time 2.
radius is exactly half of the diameter.
Ok. Got it.
So do you have the circumference?
Wouldn't it be 38. 465? The diameter is 12.25 and I multiplied that by 3.14 for pi.
I study this a week or two ago but I know background knowledge and I dont eel like going back and searching for my notes on this. I remember it being r^2 = c so punch that into the calculator and tell me what you get.
Shes offline
Okay heres the formula for the answer good luck :D r^2 = c will give you the whole original pie. I know that the answer is not 10$ because that would mean that it is the whole pie and cirlces do not have angles :/ then you need to look at the angle of 240 and I would estimate that the answer is 6$ because around 2 slices are missing :/
Helped a lot! Thank you!
