On each flip, the probability of heads is 1/2 and the probability of tails is 1/2. Therefore the probability of each outcome after 3 flips is given by \[\large P(each\ outcome)=\frac{1}{2} \times\frac{1}{2} \times\frac{1}{2}=\frac{1}{8}\] Now you need to find the number of outcomes that result from 2 tails and 1 head. When you find that number of outcomes, multiply that number by 1/8 to find the required probability.
