What happens when HCl is Mixed with water just wondering if anything happens apart from ionisation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

HCl + H20 -> Cl- + H3O+ HCl donates its proton to water forming hydronium ions in the aqueous solution. So not only is the Cl- ion formed but the solution becomes more acidic, and its pH falls due to the presence of the H3O+ ions. Also note that this reaction occurs fully.

OpenStudy (aaronq):

the temperature of the solution will also rise

rvc (rvc):

agreed :)
