Help

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

they form inter molecular hydrogen bonding between themselves

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Who? What?

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

What about the properties of compounds with other functional groups? @chmvijay

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

alcohols and amines to show this thing....

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yep they show inter molecular hydrogen bonding.. and if you know about liquid solutions they do form a +ive deviation solution

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can compare them with ester there similarity of oxygen but no H bonding so less BP, MP and esters have a fruity smell and carboxylic acids generally have a pungent smell like acetic acid (vinegar)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

in carboxylic acid and esters you can also make some points on the mechanisms they follow esters follow Aal1, Bac1,Aal2, Bac2 and acid Sn1

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Wow. Thank you! ;-) What about alcohol?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alcohol are less bulky than carboxylic acid ( you can guess why) they form better hydrogen bonding as they are more compact than carboxylic acid.. they are less acidic then carboxylic acid 'coz of resonating structures.. and if I remember then one molecule causes anesthetic feeling and is stored in black bottles(except ethanol :P)... that will make a pretty good point..

OpenStudy (ayyookyndall):

Thank you sooooooooooo much!!!
