So confused, What is the limiting reactant when 6.8 moles of iron react with 8.9 moles of oxygen gas? Unbalanced equation: Fe + O2 → Fe2O3 Show, or explain, all of your work along with the final answer.

Balanced equation: 4Fe + 3O2 -> 2Fe2O3

OpenStudy (sweetburger):

To do this question you would need to solve how many moles of Fe2O3 are produced when you react 6.8moles of O2 and then compare it with how many moles of Fe2O3 are produced when 8.9moles of Fe are reacted. Whichever value is smaller between the 2 reactions is the actual amount of Fe2O3 and the smaller value between the 2 is the limiting reactant.
