An actual sit-down break would be characterized by the passage of time associated with no distance. That would be a vertical line. That seems to be hiding at the 4-mile mark. The hint is in the problem statement where we are told that the entire hour was utilized. Also, a more vertical slope might be considered a "break" -- walking, rather than running.

Look for the passage of time with no distance. That's a break. It doesn't matter which direction it is pointed.
