Find the area of the parallelogram. A) 640 in^2 B) 512 in^2 C) 384 in^2 D) 240 in^2 This problem is confusing. How would I go about finding the height? It's not 12, right? (pic below)

Sorry, had to find it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you know how its 1/2 * (a+b) * h then a is 32 b is 32+12 h is found using pythagorean theorem square root of 20^2 - 12^2 so using formula you have 0.5*(32+12)*32*stuff = 608 inches ^2 ok... so thats not one of the choices.. either im wrong or the choices, will try again and write again... coming soon.

Isn't it base times height?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH I HAVE IT! the area of the trapezium is 608 now subtract area of the triangle which gives 608 - 20*12 /2 = 608 - length done in previous question gives 5*12 which is BBBBBBB

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH I see how to use the pythagorean theorem now

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is B. Thank you so much for this question to liven up my day. I am grateful.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

XD Thanks. Let me see if I get the same answer

OpenStudy (anonymous):

YES GOT IT idk if I did what you did though O.o XD
