Calculate half life of a reaction

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The formula for r half life as I learned it is Y=a(1-0.5)^x/d Where a is the initial amount, o. 5 is used because it's half life, and don't is the time of the half life ( say half life of carbon was 2689 years, that would be your d) Y is the amount remaining and X is the time, say you wanted to know how much was left after 100 years you plug in 100 !for X. Don't know if this helps but I hope it does!
