How many electrons must element 4 (Be) gain or lose to get an electron configuration similar to a noble gas? A. lose 2 electrons B. lose 1 electron C. gain 2 electrons D. gain 1 electron

berillium has 4 electrons , 2 in its first shell and 2 in its second shell(which is the outermost ) so it should either lose 2 electrons to become \[Be ^{2+}\] or it should gain 6 electrons to complete its second shell. its more practical and easier to lose 2 electrons berillium loses 2 electrons to have a configuration as that of the noble gas helium(2)
