OpenStudy (anonymous):

In a water molecule, two hydrogen atoms bind to one oxygen atom. How many lone pairs of electrons will be shown around each hydrogen atom in the Lewis structure of water?

OpenStudy (photon336):

Two lone pairs. Oxygen has 6 electrons shares two with both hydrogens to have 8 electrons. But two pairs electrons aren't shared so waters structure is bent overall.

OpenStudy (photon336):

Well rephrasing this has 6 but shares 2 of those electrons with hydrogen leaving 4 remaining so two lone pairs.
