OpenStudy (tenny):

Propane, C3H8, when used as a fuel, reacts with oxygen to produce carbon dioxide and water: What mass of oxygen will be required to react exactly with 96.1 g of Propane?

OpenStudy (cuanchi):

1) write and balance the reaction of propane plus oxygen that produce water and carbon dioxide. 2) calculate how many mol of propane are in 96.1g of propane (n=m/MM) 3) according to the stoichiometry of the reaction calculate how many moles of oxygen you need to react with the moles of propane calculated in 2) 4) convert the mol of oxygen to mass (g) of oxygen (m=n/MM).

OpenStudy (welshfella):

C3H8 + 5O2 ---> 3CO2 + 4H2O

OpenStudy (welshfella):

to work out the value of one mole of propane add the atomic masses of 3 carbon and 8 hydrogen atoms.
