Well for b. Think about this. You want something well an element in the same group because it will have similar chemical properties, which are defined by the number of valence electrons that particular element has. The valence electrons are the least tightly bound electrons in a particular element and the # of valence electrons will dictate how the element reacts. You could use Cl in place of bromine.
In + O2 ---> In2O3
A I'm not too sure though I think you can use indium b/c it and Al are both in the same group.
