Upon balancing the equation below, how many moles of sulfuric acid are needed to react completely with 8.4 moles of lithium hydroxide? (1 point) LiOH + H2SO4 yields Li2SO4 + H2O 2.1 moles 4.2 moles 8.4 moles 16.8 moles

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

@abb0t

OpenStudy (abb0t):

Yes?

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

can you help me on this question please :)

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Your first step is to balance do you know how to do that?

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

no

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

2 LiOH + H2SO4 = Li2SO4 + 2 H2O

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Yep that is balanced

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

So now we have to determine how may moles of H2SO4 are needed to react with the 8.4mols of LiOH So the first step to realize is that for every one mole of H2SO4 is used, two moles of LiOH are used. So: 8.4mol LiOH * (1 mol H2SO4/2mol LiOH) * (98.08g/mol H2SO4/1mol H2SO4)= ? g H2SO4

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

I got 4.2 moles

OpenStudy (taramgrant0543664):

Ya it would be 4.2 mol of H2SO4

OpenStudy (superhelp101):

yeas thanks for the help :) :D

No problem!
