Would you expect atoms of the transition elements to follow the same trend you observed for the main group elements? Locate atomic radius data for the transition elements ( not including the inner transitions elements.

Thing is as you go across any period you're adding one electron and one proton, but not changing the number of shells. Your Z effective nuclear charge goes up, which means electrons are held more tightly. This means that atomic radius would go down. Also as you go from left to right across a period electronegativity goes up. The trend with metals is that they will generally have a lower electronegativity values because of their tendency to want to lose electrons. So as you go from left to right the same Trend applies as before, but metallic character increases as you go from right to left across a period.
